Thousands of IT specialists – programmers, engineers, bloggers, online journalists and social network activists will have the chance to participate in BarCamp Yerevan 2012 unofficial conference on June 9-10.
This is the fourth year that BarCamp Yerevan 2012, which usually conveys specific agility and creative spirit to the Armenian IT domain, is held in Yerevan.
This year again the participants of the unofficial conference to be held in the building of Paramaz Avedisian of the American University of Armenia will have the chance to discuss internet technologies, applied programming problems, innovative engineering solutions and latest developments of the social media in the region and all over the world.
BarCamp is an event format that ensures open discussions and free exchange of thoughts in an informal atmosphere and which is widely applied all over the world. BarCamp participants themselves prepare and present reports and initiate discussions. BarCamp agenda is made by participants only after opening of the event, when the participants write down the schedule of their reports according to subjects and hour on the whiteboard.
BarCamp Yerevan 2012 sponsors and supporters are Alternative Resources in Media (ARM) project and Internews Armenia with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), AtTask, BetConstruct and Be2 companies and the Russian RIA Novosti agency. Orange Armenia is the general partner of the event.
“BarCamp movement is interesting to us, as it gives the chance to discuss alternative media opportunities and developments in casual atmosphere,” said Nune Sargsyan, Internews Media Support NGO. “The format of BarCamp allows young people, among them many journalists, getting informed of the latest developments of internet technologies”.
“We are greatly interested in this project. This is the first time we join this project and we wish this partnership to be ongoing. We are convinced that the exclusive atmosphere that will be during BarCamp will create a specific and favorable platform for exchanging thoughts and experience as well as getting to know each other better and creating together. We believe that this event, among other suchlike events, is greatly important for formation of an information society and promotion of creative mind in the country.
As internet services provider company and the leader of mobile internet in Armenia, we feel also responsible for boosting improvement of the web environment in the country,” said Bruno Duthoit, Orange Armenia CEO.
