Orange together with the Armenian Book Center NGO organized the second annual “Orange Book Prize” contest.

Names of the “Orange Book Prize 2012” winners were announced on February 20th , 2013, during the award ceremony. The wining works in each genre were printed by quantity of 500. The authors of winning works of each genre were awarded with money prize (500 000 AMD each), save “Popular Prize” winner.

Orange Book Prize 2012 nominee works

Orange Book Prize is a contest for readers and booklovers. From January 15th till February 15th all readers had a chance to read and vote for their favorite works on this page by clicking Facebook “like” button at the appropriate work. Public voting was closed on February 15th, at noon. Below are presented the final result of online voting.

The winning work of all genres were chosen by the vote of the Jury. Moreover, online voting results were considered as the vote of one member of the Jury. The names of the winning works can be found on "Orange Book prize 2012 results" page. 

Erazik Grigoryan’s “ Your Excellency Bad Old Witch” fairy tale - the work having collected the maximum number of readers’ votes was recognized the winner of “Popular Prize”.

who can participate and how

The contest is open to all those who

  • write in Armenian (eastern or western)
  • present a literary work never published in the past (literary works posted in electronic journals, blogs and social networks are considered non-published, as well as works that have been published in hard copy format but in no more than 10% of its total volume are not considered as having been published before).

Those who wish to participate in the contest will need to send their works in Armenian and its brief summary in Word or PDF format to orangebookprize@orangearmenia.am until November 15th, 2012. Please mention Orange Book Prize in the subject line and personal information (real name, country of residence, fixed and mobile number) in the message body.

In addition to the real name the participant may indicate a pen name with which he would like to be presented as the author of his work. If no pen name is indicated the author will be presented by his real name.

To participate at the contest the submitted works must fit into one of the following genres:

  • short story
  • novel
  • fairy tale
  • series of poems (up to 5 poems)

There are no age restrictions for participation.

the selection of winning works

The contest jury, which consists of representatives of public readers, will read all submitted works.

Maximum 3 nominee works in each genre will be chosen, which, according to the jury, satisfy the contest conditions and are the best works.

The nominee works of the contest will be published on this page on January 15th, 2013.

All readers will be able to vote for their favorite works on this page through Facebook “like” button. On February 15th, at noon, the quantity of votes per each work will be registered as the final result of online voting.

The winning work of each genre will be chosen by the vote of the jury. Moreover, online voting results will be considered as the vote of one member of the jury. A special “Popular Prize” will be awarded to the work having collected the maximum number of readers’ votes, regardless of the genre.

Names of the winners will be announced on February 20th, 2013, during the award ceremony.

The winners will be granted with certificates and the winning works will be printed by quantity of 500. The authors of winning works of each genre will be awarded with money prize (500 000 AMD each), save “Popular Prize” winner.

If none of the submitted works in a category satisfy the jury, the jury shall be entitled to take the decision not to choose any winner for that category.
