network and coverage
The coverage maps are of an informative nature and bear information about radio-coverage for a certain period of time. The coverage map presented by Orange is made according to the calculations based on international standards and the network is being continuously extended.
Orange 3G+ network supports theoretical download speeds up to 42.2 Mbps in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor and Etchmiadzin (you can find the 42.2 Mbps network coverage map here. To use it you need to download Google Earth) and 21.6 Mbps elsewhere in Orange Armenia network.
When using Internet Now 7.2 (MF637) modem in ideal conditions, speed goes up to 5-6Mbps, but in average, speeds vary between 300 Kbps and 1500 Kbps. In case of usage of Internet Now 14.4 (MF 656A) modem in ideal conditions, speed goes up to 7-9Mbps, but in average speeds vary between 2Mbps to 5Mbps. Internet Now 21.6 Mb/sec (667) new generation modem can technically support the download speed up to 21.6 Mb/sec and the upload speed up to 5.76 Mb/sec which is available in all the country within Orange network. In ideal conditions, speed goes up to 10-18Mbps, but in average speeds vary between 4Mbps to 6Mbps. In case of usage of Internet Now 4 (MF680) modem in ideal conditions, speed goes up to 25-33Mbps, but in average speeds vary between 7Mbps to 12Mbps.
Internet connection speed can vary a lot because of high loads in particular zones or time.
There are two factors that may cause disturbances or difficulties when you are trying to connect to the network: topography differences in a particular area may limit or obstruct radio frequencies, and generate actual coverage variances from one spot to another, and network congestions. As GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA allow a certain number of simultaneous connections, at peak hours or in highly populated areas, speed of connection can be lower than usual or limited for a while.
With 3G+ Orange is using the most advanced technologies currently available to diminish these occurrences and deliver the best qualitative service anytime and everywhere.
Since handover between 2G and 3G+ is supported both ways, connection is maintained even when 3G+ is not available or not supported by a handset, and the switch is unnoticed by users in most cases.
In case of service interruption, service is generally restored on the same day and for some cases may take up to two days, except for special cases or when the reason for interruption is beyond the control of Orange.
In order to provide network integrity and security, equally split Orange network capabilities between its subscribers, reduce congestions and provide high quality Orange services to all subscribers Orange has the right, to implement and initiate technical measures and establish priorities at its own discretion.v
